Trust
Trust is having confidence in, or believing in, that which is true, which you cannot yet see, but that you can sense or feel. To trust we have three assets. We have a body, a spirit, and a natural sense of what is healthy for us and what is not healthy.
Power
Power is the ability to act. The making of a choice is the exercise of power, and holding yourself accountable for the results of your choice is the refinement and protection of that power.
Intelligence
Intelligence is doing as the truth requires. There are three versions of the truth: mine, yours and the one that is really happening. We must learn how to expand our version of truth.
Commitment
Commitment is putting all of yourself into a direction. Commitment is what keeps us from quitting when things get hard. People quit on themselves, relationships and even their families because they get stuck in a problem and can't find a solution.
Endurance
Endurance is sustaining one's power over time. It is to persist intelligently. To endure is to take another's view into account, it is to ask for clarification, it is to seek out what else is true and act on it a little better each day.
Compassion
As we become more capable in the previous principles, our capacity for sincere openness to others expands. We are not just open to their ideas and opinions; we are increasingly open to their feelings, needs, and inner experience.
Forgiveness
When we harbor resentment, we simultaneously begin to close up. As with all living systems, the moment we close up, we begin to die. Forgiveness is the process whereby we rescue our ability to give, and therefore renew our capacity to live.
Love
I love you when your concern becomes my concern. Love is when I see what you need from me and I do it as naturally as though I was doing it for myself. To be loved is to also allow my concern to become your concern.
